Booking in advance can maximise your savings. Just like airfares, airport parking charges fluctuate with availability. Analysis of our booking data shows you could save up to 50 per cent if you book Birmingham Airport car parking six months before your flight departure, compared with a reservation made just one week before.

See how parking prices shift over six months on the chart below. Prices are the average per day.

2. Use off-airport parking

If you're willing to take a transfer from your car to Birmingham Airport, opting for an off-airport car park could help you save cash. Because they add a little extra time to your journey, off-airport parking is almost always cheaper than on-airport car parks. But you still get easy access and complimentary bus transfers, with all options less than 15 minutes away, and end up with a little extra money in your pocket.

How does your on-airport parking work?

On-airport parking means you park your car in a car park close to the terminal entrance. You drive to the car park, find a space, take your luggage and walk to the terminal building, which should take about three to five minutes. There is no need to take a shuttle bus transfer (although Car Park 5 offers a free transfer bus if required).

With its proximity to the terminal building, on-airport parking is easy and convenient. While not always the most economical option, it's well suited to passengers with bulky luggage, families with young children or those wanting simply to park their car and walk to check-in.

How does your Birmingham Airport off-airport car parking work?

Off-airport parking such as APH Park & Ride offers easy parking in security-protected sites. This type of car parking typically offers the best value at Birmingham Airport.

The process is straightforward. After following directions to the car park, unload your bags and take one of the regular shuttle bus transfers to the terminal, which takes around 15 minutes and is complimentary.

If you book Self Park, you'll park your car and take your keys with you. With Park & Ride, you leave your keys with the parking operator, who parks your car for you on-site in the car park or at a nearby secure parking facility. They then return it to the Reception area for you to collect at the end of your trip.

You drive straight to the terminal and hand your car over to your Meet & Greet operator. While you walk into the terminal, the operator drives your car to a secure parking facility, where it stays for the duration of your trip. The operator brings it back to the terminal upon your return.
