Park Mark Safer Parking Award – Why It’s So Important

We know that vehicle security is of utmost importance to our customers, whether they are booking airport parking or port parking.

The Park Mark Safer Parking scheme is a Police Crime Prevention Initiative designed to reduce both crime and the fear of crime in car parks across the UK. The  Park Mark Safer Parking Award is given to car parks that meet the scheme’s standards of security, maintenance and management, including Reylon Ferry & Cruise Parking, Dover Port.

Assessments for the award are carried out on an annual basis, to ensure standards are maintained.

Here at APH, we are firm supporters of Park Mark Safer Parking Award.

Dover Port Car Parks Reviews

Our Dover parking reviews are independently collected and verified by Reviews.io. You may find them helpful when making your booking.

We appreciate all customer feedback, whether it is for customer service, car park facilities or the APH booking process, so we can continue to provide our customers – old and new – with the best port parking experience.

Port Terminals

The Port of Dover has two terminals, Eastern Dock and Western Dock, which lie about one kilometre from each other. Our Dover parking options serve both docks, as well as dedicated cruise terminals.

How to get cheap Dover Ferry Port parking

Finding the best deal is important for most travellers and we are happy to share our money-saving tips for Dover port parking and Dover cruise terminal parking.

Book early to save on your Dover Port parking

Dover port parking charges can fluctuate, according to season and availability, just as ferry prices and cruise fares often do.

An easy way to save on costs, therefore, is to book in advance – perhaps at the same time as you book your cruise or ferry.

Over the years we have analysed our Dover parking booking data, which tells us that those who make their Dover parking booking with APH six months prior to travel save, on average, over 30 per cent, compared with those who confirm their booking just one week before they sail.

In terms of cash, this translates to paying £39.00 for a week’s parking instead of £55.00. That’s a saving of £16.00 – money better spent on board instead!

You can see on the chart below how average prices for Dover parking fluctuate over a period of six months.

Opt for off-port

Generally, the most economical type of Dover parking is off-port. This means the car park is situated away from the port itself, with transfers provided between car park and the port or cruise terminal.

The off-port Dover parking offered by APH, such as Dover Cruise Parking and Reylon Ferry & Cruise Parking, provides secure facilities including CCTV and 24-hour patrols, as well as free bus transfers.

Different types of parking suit the various requirements of ferry and cruise passengers. Here’s a quick overview of the types of port parking you might come across when planning your trips.

On-port parking: How it works

On-port parking refers to car parks that are situated within the port itself. These are usually the closest to the ferry or cruise terminal building.

All you need to do is drive to the car park, find a space, unload your bags, and take the short transfer to the ferry or cruise terminal.

Here's a quick overview of how on-port parking works.

Best for: those preferring to park as close as possible to the terminal.

APH does not currently provide off-port parking at Dover. Check out our Reylon Ferry & Cruise Parking, which is just a 10-minute bus transfer away, instead.

Off-port parking: How it works

Off-port car parks are often the most cost-effective type of Dover parking.

Located away from the port – but still within easy striking distance by free shuttle transfer – off-port car parks are usually easy to find and, if you book through APH, you can be assured of 24-hour security for your vehicle while you are away.

Just follow the directions to the car park, drop off your car, take your luggage and hop on the next shuttle bus for the free ride to the ferry or cruise terminal.

When you return from your trip, follow the signs to the car park buses and take the short ride back to the car park to collect your car.
