How to save money on your Southampton port car parking

As well as Southampton, we offer airport parking across the UK to suit all budgets. No matter how much you pay, when you book your Southampton port car parking or airport parking with us, you can relax knowing your car is safe.

Here are some of the best ways to save money on parking here:

Book early

Southampton port parking prices fluctuate according to seasonality and availability, in the same way that ferry ticket prices and cruise fares often do. An easy way to save on costs, therefore, is to book your parking spot early.

We have analysed the booking data for Southampton port parking prices over previous years. The data confirms that by making your booking with APH six months before travel, you can save on average more than 35% compared with booking just one week ahead.

In cash terms, for example, this could mean paying £66.96 for a week’s parking instead of £103.52. That’s a saving of £36.56 – money better spent on board instead!

The chart below shows how average prices for Southampton port parking fluctuate over six months.

Opt for off-port

The most economical type of parking at a ferry or cruise terminal is off-port. This means your vehicle will be parked in a car park a short distance from the port, with transfers provided between the car park and the ferry or cruise terminal.

At Southampton, we offer secure off-port parking at Cruise Parking, Southampton Port, which provides on-demand transfers. The transfer to the port takes no more than eight minutes.

How does on-port parking work?

Usually, the closest type of parking to the terminal, on-port parking refers to car parks that are situated within the port boundaries.

Just follow the signs to the port and the car park that you have booked – for example, Triangle Car Park & Transfer, Southampton Port – park your car, unload your bags and take the short bus transfer to the ferry or cruise terminal.

On your return, you take the short bus ride back to the car park to collect your car.

When you return from your trip, follow the signs to the car park transfer buses and take the short ride back to the car park to collect your car.

The four terminals serve over 2.5 million cruise passengers annually, with P&O Cruises and Cunard based there. Other major cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, Princess Cruises, MSC, and Norwegian Cruise Line frequently visit the port. Plus, if you book six months in advance, you could make an average saving of 35% in comparison with making a reservation just one week before you travel.

Security is paramount. We know that while you're away, you want to be certain that security measures are in place. That's why the parking has features such as security fencing, CCTV and uniformed staff on patrol, plus Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). On top of this, we only ever partner with parking providers and car parking facilities that meet our strict standards. We're also supporters of the Park Mark® Safer Parking scheme.

What is the Park Mark Safer Parking Award?
We know that vehicle security is of utmost importance to you, whether you're booking port parking, cruise terminal parking or airport parking. The Park Mark® Safer Parking scheme is a Police Crime Prevention Initiative designed to reduce both crime and the fear of crime in car parks across the UK. Parking facilities must meet the standards of security, maintenance and management to be accredited with the award. Assessments for the award are carried out on an annual basis to ensure standards are maintained. Here at APH, we are firm supporters of this scheme.

Do you offer Meet & Greet car parking at Southampton port?
Unfortunately, we don't offer Meet & Greet parking in Southampton as we do at certain UK airports. While you can't book this valet service, the bus transfer for our off-airport parking takes around five minutes, making it a convenient option.

Do you serve all port terminals in Southampton?
Our Southampton port parking options serve all four terminals.
