Park & Ride (Off-airport parking)
Park & Ride is typically the most economical choice for Edinburgh Airport travellers. With a Park & Ride service, you’ll park your car in a secure off-airport car park located near the airport, and then hop on a free shuttle bus for a quick transfer to the terminal. You get to keep your keys (in most cases) and your car stays in a monitored, well-lit parking facility while you’re away. When you return from your trip, simply take the shuttle back to the car park to collect your vehicle.
Why choose Park & Ride? It’s great for travellers looking to save money on Edinburgh Airport car parks without sacrificing security. Transfer times are usually just a few minutes, and shuttles run frequently, so you can get to and from the airport efficiently. This option is ideal if you don’t mind a short bus ride and want a budget-friendly, hassle-free parking experience.

Best for: Travellers looking for an economical parking solution without compromising on security.
Meet & Greet (Valet Parking)
Meet & Greet parking (also known as valet parking) offers the ultimate convenience for those who want a fast, no-fuss experience. With Meet & Greet, you drive your car directly to the terminal (or a designated drop-off point nearby) where a fully insured valet driver meets you. Simply hand over your keys, and you’re free to walk straight into the check-in area while the operator parks your car for you in a secure facility.
When you arrive back at Edinburgh Airport after your trip, your car will be brought back to the terminal, ready for you to collect immediately, so you can be on your way home with no delays.
Why choose Meet & Greet? This service is perfect for families with lots of luggage, business travellers on a tight schedule, or anyone who values maximum convenience. It’s the quickest way to park - no transfers or searching for a space – just drop off and go. While Meet & Greet can be a bit more expensive than Park & Ride, many travellers find the time saved and ease of use well worth it.

Best for: Families with young children, travellers with bulky luggage, or those looking for the quickest type of parking.
Top Tips to Save Money on Parking at Edinburgh Airport
Everyone loves a good deal, and with a few smart strategies, you can secure the best value for your Edinburgh Airport parking. Here are our top tips to help you save money and travel stress-free:
"Deciding where to park before traveling abroad might seem like a small detail, but planning ahead is essential. It not only saves you from expensive last-minute bookings but also allows you to compare different options. The early bird gets the best deals, helping you find a balance between convenience and cost without rushing to the gate!" Rob, Contact centre manager
1. Book in advance
The golden rule for saving on airport parking is to book as early as possible. Prices tend to rise as the departure date gets closer, so by reserving your space weeks or even months ahead, you lock in lower rates. In fact, booking your parking about 6 months in advance could save you up to 30% (or more) compared to last-minute bookings. As soon as you know your travel dates, get your parking sorted – you’ll have more choices and enjoy cheaper prices.
| Car Park | Transfer Time | Price From (per week)* |
|---|---|---|
| Secure Airparks | Transfer time 1 - 2 minutes | £55.99* |
| Drop & Go | Transfer time 3 minutes | £48.25* |
| PremiAir Holiday Flex Plus | Transfer time 3 minutes | £44.08* |
| Secure Airparks Electric Bay | Transfer time 1 - 2 minutes | £75.99* |
Choose Park & Ride for the best value
If you’re looking to cut costs, opt for an off-airport Park & Ride service instead of on-airport or Meet & Greet parking. Park & Ride options at Edinburgh Airport are generally significantly cheaper while still offering quick transfers (often just 5-10 minutes) on free shuttle buses. You’ll still benefit from secure parking and reliable service, just at a lower price point. This way, you keep more money in your pocket for your trip, without compromising on peace of mind..
3. Look out for deals and discounts:
Take advantage of special offers to save even more on parking at Edinburgh Airport. For example, sign up for the APH newsletter or follow us on social media to get exclusive discount codes - we often give at least 10% off to our subscribers for their next booking. Additionally, if you travel often, consider joining loyalty programs or using any membership discounts available through travel clubs or insurers. Every little bit helps to bring down the cost!

History of Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh Airport started out as an aerodrome called Turnhouse, which operated as a military base during the second half of the first world war. With just a grass strip for a runway, Turnhouse Aerodrome then became home to the 603 (City of Edinburgh) Squadron, in 1925. During the second world war, the aerodrome was taken over by RAF Fighter Command and a runway was built to handle the Supermarine Spitfire.
The first commercial flight took off for London in 1947 and the airport was handed over to the Ministry of Aviation. In 1952, the runway was extended and in 1956, a new passenger terminal was opened. The first international flights began in 1962 with direct service to Dublin, but up until the late 1970s, most other international flights were charter rather than scheduled.
By 1971, Edinburgh Airport was handling 681,000 passengers. It was bought by the British Airports Authority (BAA) and plans were put in place for a complete redevelopment. A new terminal building was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1977, which also saw the completion of a new 2,556m runway – designed to handle all modern aircraft including Concorde. By the time BAA was privatised in 1987, Edinburgh was handling over 1.8 million passengers per year.
In 2012, under pressure from the UK’s Competition Commission, the airport was sold to Global Infrastructure Partners, for £807 million. A further extension was added to the passenger terminal and in 2014, the airport was connected to the Edinburgh city centre by a new tram link.
In 2019, passenger numbers had risen to 14.7 million and today, Edinburgh Airport is the UK’s 6th busiest airport and home to over 50 airlines.

If you cannot book special assistance in advance, you can still request it at the airport and all reasonable efforts will be made to assist you.
Each airline may have different rules and regulations around booking special assistance.
If you are travelling with an assistance dog or mobility aid, such as a wheelchair or scooter, you must advise your airline at least 48 hours prior to travel.
If you have booked assistance, when you arrive at the airport just go to the Special Assistance Reception, which is just outside the Domestic Arrivals door, opposite the Airlink 100 bus stand. It is signposted Special Assistance.
Disabled parking
Blue Badge parking bays are available in any of the official airport car parks, with free parking up to one hour. You need to have your car park ticket validated at the customer service kiosk before exiting the car park.
There are telephone help points located near the Blue Badge parking bays and help is provided free of charge to passengers who need special assistance.
You must display your Blue Badge clearly on the dashboard while you are away. However, if you prefer to take your Blue Badge with you, you just need to show it to the car park operator either at the customer services office or by using the help button.
