Tips for Playing Golf Near an Airport Hotel
Book your tee time well in advance
Several clubs require bookings days – or even weeks – ahead. The longest lead time is Stockley Park near Heathrow at 16 days, followed by Gogarburn near Edinburgh (7 days), Turnhouse also near Edinburgh (5 days) and Tall Pines near Bristol (7 days). If you’re planning around a specific flight date, get your tee time locked in before you book the hotel.
Travel light on the day
Store your main luggage at the hotel before heading to the course. Most airport hotels offer luggage storage or have a late check-out option – worth checking when you book. Then head straight to the terminal after your round.
Factor in transfer time
All clubs in this guide are within 20 minutes’ drive of their respective airport hotels, but give yourself a comfortable buffer – allow at least 90 minutes between finishing your round and your check-in deadline, especially at busier airports like Heathrow and Gatwick.
Check for shoe and kit hire
If you’re flying out to a golf destination in Europe and travelling light, clubs with pro shops (Hatchford Brook, Stonebridge, Styal, Ringway, Golf World Stansted, Stockwood Park) may have hire equipment available. Call ahead to confirm.
