APH Cardiff Park & Ride (formerly Highwayman)

This is an off-airport car park a few minutes' drive from Cardiff Airport, next to the Highway Inn. You park, hand your keys to staff at reception, and a transfer bus takes you to the terminal. Transfers run every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day, and take 5 to 7 minutes.

The compound is fenced, covered by CCTV and patrolled, with staff on site day and night. Your car stays inside the compound for the whole of your trip - it is never moved off-site, so it is where you left it when you get back.

Getting there

  • Leave the M4 at Junction 33 and follow signs for Cardiff Airport.
  • Join the A4232, signposted for Cardiff Airport.
  • Continue on the A4232 and take the slip road marked 'Airport'. At the roundabout, take the third exit.
  • Follow signs for the airport across the next five roundabouts.
  • At the fifth roundabout, take the right fork towards St Athan and Llantwit Major.
  • Take the next left after the British Airways hangar. Keep right through the village of Fonmon.
  • At the crossroads, turn left and continue towards the car park.

When you arrive

  • Drive in and park in one of the designated arrival bays.
  • Go to reception and show your booking confirmation.
  • Hand your keys to staff.
  • Take the transfer bus to the terminal while your car is parked for you.

When you come back

  • Head to the transfer bus stop outside the terminal.
  • Take the bus back to the car park.
  • Your keys are returned to you on arrival.
  • Exit the car park and continue your journey.

Allow enough time for check-in at the car park and the transfer on top of your usual airport timings.

Who you are booking with

Your booking is made with APH. APH takes the payment, sends your confirmation, and handles amendments, cancellations, and refunds - you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before departure. The car park itself handles your vehicle: the key handover at reception, parking it inside the compound, and the transfer bus.

If you need to change or cancel a booking, use Manage My Booking or get in touch through Help and Contact. If something needs sorting out at the car park on the day, reception is the quickest route.

How much is parking at Cardiff Airport?

The standard weekly price for APH Cardiff Park & Ride is £89.99, or £80.99 with the 10% discount applied through this page, as at 12 October 2026. Prices move with demand and with how far ahead you book, so the search form shows the live price for your dates.

APH's own Cardiff booking data shows how much the booking window matters:

When you book Average price per day Typical weekly cost Availability
6+ months before travel £5.40 - £6.40 £38 - £45 High
3 - 6 months before travel £6.40 - £7.85 £45 - £55 High
1 month before travel £7.85 - £9.30 £55 - £65 Medium
2 weeks before travel £9.30 - £10.70 £65 - £75 Low

Booking early is worth more than any discount code. The 10% applied through this page comes off whatever the live price is, so the two stack in your favour.

Is it cheaper to be dropped off?

For a very short visit, possibly. Cardiff Airport's Drop Off Zone outside the terminal costs £4.50 for up to 10 minutes and £4.50 for every further 10 minutes. The published pick-up tariff is £4.50 up to 10 minutes, £6.00 for 10 to 20 minutes, £9.00 up to an hour, £20.00 up to two hours and £50.00 for 2 to 24 hours. Car Park 2 offers 20 minutes free for drop-off and pick-up. Source: Cardiff Airport, checked 12 October 2026. These charges are set by the airport and change from time to time.

For anything longer than a quick drop, parking is the cheaper option - and if someone has to make two round trips to the airport for you, it is usually cheaper before you count the fuel.

5 out of 5 It is an easy process to book into the parking. Hand over your key and you're off to the airport. Staff are pleasant to deal with. On return it couldn't be easier, out the airport and the minibus is waiting for you as they track your inbound flight so if there are any delays they know and are there when you arrive. You get your car key back on arrival at the minibus, back to base and your car is waiting for you.
5 out of 5 Always pleasant staff and regularly on time. Transfer vehicles are clean and comfortable. Car is always parked near the arriving transfer bus, so no long walk. Will use them again shortly.
