Liverpool Airport Drop-off & Pick-up Charges

When flying from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, you’ll find plenty to love – from excellent connectivity and an array of dining and shopping options to its modern facilities. However, like many major airports, Liverpool has introduced drop-off charges that can catch you by surprise if you’re not prepared.

Understanding the Charges

The drop-off fees are designed to manage congestion, reduce environmental impact, and encourage the use of alternative transport methods. While these charges help keep the traffic moving smoothly, they can be a point of discussion for travellers looking for a quick and convenient drop-off solution.

Express Set Down Service

For those in a rush, Liverpool Airport offers an Express Set Down service, located conveniently close to the terminal entrance. This service allows for the fastest possible drop-off, though it does come with a fee:

  • Up to 10 minutes: £5.00
  • Up to 20 minutes: £10.00
  • Up to 1 hour: £25.00
  • Up to 24 hours: £50.00
  • each 24 hours thereafter ( or part thereof): £50.00

Note: Vehicles must not be left unattended at any time, so be sure to complete your drop-off promptly.

Short Stay Parking Option

If your drop-off requires a longer duration, the Short Stay car park is a better alternative. It offers more flexibility, especially if you need to leave your vehicle for a short while:

  • Up to 30 minutes: £8.00
  • Up to 1 hour: £15.00
  • 1 – 2 hours: £20.00
  • 2 – 4 hours: £30.00
  • Up to 24 hours: £55.00

This option is ideal if you’re planning a quick stop or need to manage luggage without the worry of a hefty fee for extended drop-offs.

Free Drop Off at the Mid Stay Car Park

For those looking to avoid the drop-off fees altogether, Liverpool Airport offers a free drop-off option in the Mid Stay car park. Here, you can park for free for up to one hour, allowing you to unload your passengers and belongings without incurring an extra charge. Do note that if you opt for this service, you’ll need to use a shuttle bus – which runs every 10 minutes and takes around 7 minutes – to reach the terminal.

Blue Badge & Special Assistance

Liverpool Airport caters to passengers requiring additional support by providing dedicated Blue Badge spaces within the Express Set Down area. The fee for these bays is the same as the standard Express Set Down charge, but special assistance staff are on hand to help ensure a smooth and comfortable experience.

Pick-up Considerations

For those arriving to pick up loved ones, it’s generally best to use the free Mid Stay car park or the Short Stay car park. The Express Set Down area isn’t recommended for pick-ups, as the unpredictable timing of passenger arrivals can lead to unexpectedly high charges.

Planning Ahead

Understanding your drop-off and pick-up options can help you avoid unnecessary costs and stress. Whether you choose the speed of the Express Set Down or the cost-effective Mid Stay option, planning ahead will ensure that your journey to or from Liverpool Airport is as smooth as possible.

Bon voyage and safe travels from Liverpool John Lennon Airport!

The Liverpool John Lennon Airport drop-off discount scheme is typically available to residents within the Liverpool City Region, which includes areas like Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, and Wirral. Since Thatto Heath in St Helens falls within this region and you’re within the required distance, you should be eligible.

To benefit from the discount, you’ll need to pre-register your vehicle on the official airport website at least 24 hours before your visit. If you haven’t done this yet, we recommend doing it as soon as possible before your drop-off on 18/06/25.
