With a great start to the ski season and airlines adding more flights to ski destinations, it is worth while considering the hidden costs of excess baggage charges for oversized luggage if taking your own ski equipment. At Airport Parking and Hotels, we've compiled data from 16 leading airlines flying from the UK, so skiers and snowboards can see these charges at a glance in the comparison table below.

Key findings

  • Five of the airlines researched do not include ski equipment in travellers’ baggage allowance
  • Flybe charge up to £20 each way
  • Easyjet, Ryanair and BMI charge £15 each way
  • Ryan Air will charge more if not booked in advance
  • Most other airlines include ski/snowboard equipment within the free baggage allowance
  • Some offer a ‘special rate’ which either includes an extra 3kg per person or a 33% discount from the excess charge
