Gatwick Airport has a mainline railway station situated on the London to Brighton Line. The station is located at the South Terminal; the North Terminal is accessed via the free shuttle which takes just a few minutes.

Flight check-in:

Gatwick offers the following guidelines for when you should check in for domestic, European and non-European international flights:

• International flights: Check-in opens 4 hours prior to departure
• European flights: Check-in 3 hours prior to departure

Wi-Fi access at Gatwick Airport:

If you need to be connected, Gatwick offers Wi-Fi connectivity at free internet hotspots throughout the airport. Just set your device to scan for connectivity and look out for Boingo connections. It’s free for 45 minutes, after which you’ll be asked to pay for various usage plans.

Charging your mobile devices:

Gatwick Airport offers ChargeBox kiosks where you can boost your smartphone’s battery as you wait to fly. The service consists of a secure locker equipped with charging leads and adaptors for most popular handsets. You can charge your device for between 30 and 90 minutes.

The lockers have a unique key for added security and are located in the departures lounge of the North Terminal. Using the service costs from £1.50 for 30 minutes.

Baby changing facilities:

These facilities are highlighted by either a bottle sign or baby care symbol. Find them in the check-in area, as you head to the gates, in the transfer area and after passport control in arrivals. There are also fold-down tables provided in some male and female toilets.

Luggage trolleys:

Don’t be caught out by travelling to Gatwick Airport without any change, luggage trolleys will cost you a deposit of £1, €1 or US 25-cent coin.

Luggage lockers:

If you’ve got a long wait for your flight, but don’t want to be burdened with bags, simply head to one of the luggage lockers. These cost around £8.00 per item per day and are available 24 hours a day. Find them in the Arrivals area of the North Terminal.


If you have a last-minute medical issue, Boots has pharmacies before and after security in the North Terminal. Opening hours are: 5:00am to 7:00pm before security and 4:00am to 9:00pm airside. Both have pharmacies.
