What are the different car parking options at Gatwick Airport?

Our purpose-built APH Park and Ride Car Park is easily reached by road from all directions. From this car park, there's a regular free shuttle service to the airport terminals which takes around 10 minutes. This is a great option for long stay parking, as you can park your car for a longer period and still have easy access to the airport.

If you prefer to drive directly to the terminal, then select one of our trusted Meet & Greet partners who will park your car in a secure compound for you. Again, this is a great option for long stay parking, as you can relax knowing that your car is being taken care of while you're away.

Do you offer parking at all terminals?

There are two terminals at Gatwick Airport – North Terminal and South Terminal. Both of which offer Short and Long Stay parking. You need to know which terminal your flight departs from when booking your LGW parking.

The off-airport car parks, such as APH Self Park, APH Park & Ride and Airparks Park & Ride, are suitable for either terminal. The shuttle transfer leaves every 15 minutes from the car park to the terminals and the journey takes 10-12 minutes. The shuttle buses are equipped with seatbelts and Wi-Fi for a comfortable ride.

If you're booking on-airport Gatwick parking, such as a Meet & Greet service, please ensure you select the correct product for your terminal.

What hotel and parking packages do you offer?

Spending the night before your flight at or near the airport is a great option for those with longer journeys to Gatwick or an early flight. It’s often good value too as a Hotel & Parking package usually costs less than booking parking and accommodation separately.

We offer a comprehensive range of airport hotels. Some are right next to the airport terminal (such as the 3-star Hampton by Hilton), and some are off-airport, including the 4-star Crowne Plaza. These off-airport hotels can be easily combined with our award-winning APH Park & Ride or APH Self Park car parks, a couple of miles down the road.

How to get cheap airport parking at Gatwick

We're committed to offering multiple Gatwick parking products to ensure you always have access to the cheapest parking, without compromising on security or service.

Our own APH Park & Ride and APH Self Park options are the best value for Gatwick parking. While we can't guarantee it's always the cheapest, it often is, and we always offer a friendly welcome to customers old and new.

If you're looking for the cheapest airport parking deal, here are a few tips from our resident expert, Rob, Contact Center Manager at APH:

"When you're looking at your parking options, most people only look at the parking options on-site – but you can often end up paying less if you consider the off-site parking options too as they come with more competitive rates. You should always try to book your parking in advance (ideally, when you book your trip!) as you can snag early bird discounts and guarantee a space –this is especially handy during peak periods, such as school holidays. If you're going on a longer trip, looking into extended stay packages or park-and-fly hotel deals can help you save even more money per trip."

1. Book early to save

London Gatwick Airport parking prices aren't fixed. Just like airfares, they go up and down depending on availability. Booking in advance is a great way to benefit from significant savings. If you make a car park booking six months before your flight, you could save up to 60%, compared with making a reservation a week or two before departure.

The graph below shows how much the price of parking fluctuates over a few months.

2. Choose off-airport parking

Off-airport parking is virtually always cheaper than on-airport car parks. They're still easy to find though, and we provide a free shuttle service to the North and South Terminals. All our car parks carry the Park Mark Safer Parking Award which means they're protected with security fencing, CCTV, entry and exit barriers and 24-hour manned patrols. This means you can park with complete confidence when you choose us.

How does your off-airport parking work?

Follow the directions to the car park. Park your car and take a short shuttle bus transfer to the North or South Terminal. Transfers operate 24 hours a day and drop you right outside the terminal. If you choose a Self Park Gatwick parking product, such as APH Self Park, all you need to do is park your car in a free space, take the shuttle transfer to the terminal and keep your keys with you. If you book a Park & Ride Gatwick parking product, such as APH Park & Ride, park your car in the arrivals bay and leave your keys at Reception. Your car will be parked for you, while you take the shuttle transfer to the airport terminal.

off airport parking process

If you're looking for cheap Gatwick parking, off-airport parking is usually your best bet. Just make sure that it carries the police-approved Park Mark Safer Parking Award for peace of mind while you're on your travels. If you book one of our APH car parking options, you'll be leaving your car in a state-of-the-art car park, which is protected by an impressive range of high-tech security features and accredited with the Park Mark Plus award.

This price comparison table compares the value of off-airport versus on-airport Gatwick parking.

How does your on-airport parking work?

There's Long Stay and Short Stay parking at Gatwick, both options are located within the airport perimeter.

If you choose to use Short Stay parking, just drive to the terminal and follow the signs to the Short Stay multi-storey adjacent to the terminal building. Take a ticket at the entry barrier, find a space to park, unload your bags and walk across to the terminal. Keep your keys with you and keep the car park ticket safe. When you return from your travels, walk back to the car park, use your ticket to pay at one of the payment machines and collect your car.

on airport parking process

The official Gatwick Long Stay car park operates in the same way as the Short Stay except with a shuttle transfer. Once you arrive at the airport, follow the signs to the Long Stay car park, take a ticket at the entry barrier and park your car. The car park operates regular shuttle services to the terminal, which take around 10 minutes. When you return from your travels, take the Long Stay shuttle bus back to the car park, pay at the ticket machine and collect your car.

Both the Short Stay and Long Stay parking at Gatwick operate on a pay-by-ticket basis and don't require pre-booking. If you prefer to have a confirmed booking for your Gatwick parking – or are looking for the best value for money – consider off-airport parking options, such as APH Self Park, where you still get to keep your keys with you, or APH Park & Ride. It's also worth comparing on-airport parking prices with a Meet & Greet service, such as APH Meet & Greet, where you drive to the terminal and leave your car with an approved driver. The driver will park it in a secure compound for the duration of your trip.

How does Meet & Greet Parking work?

Meet & Greet parking allows you to drive straight to the terminal, where you leave your car with the Meet & Greet operator. While you walk into check-in, your car will be driven to a secure parking facility for the duration of your trip and brought back to the terminal for you upon your return.

Gatwick Parking Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Park Mark Safer Parking Award?
The Park Mark Safer Parking Award is a Police Crime Prevention Initiative designed to reduce crime and the fear of crime in car parks across the UK. The Park Mark Safer Parking Award is only given to car parks that meet certain security, maintenance and management standards. At APH, all our airport car parking products have attained the award, so you can relax and enjoy your trip while we do the rest. Our own APH Park & Ride, APH Self Park and APH Park & Ride EV options go one step further and have attained the Park Mark Plus Award – the top parking accreditation.

Can I amend my Gatwick Airport parking booking?
You can amend your APH Park & Ride, APH Self Park, Airparks Self Park and Airparks Park & Ride booking any time before arrival. APH Meet & Greet Forecourt, I Love Meet & Greet and ACE Meet & Greet allow free amendments up to 24 hours before the date of travel. Some parking bookings (like the Non-Flexible, Supersaver or Advanced Purchase car parking) can't be cancelled or amended as they are discount rate bookings. So, it's important to check the terms and conditions before you book. For further information, head to our help page. If you need to amend your booking, log in to your account or get in touch with our customer service team.

Where to park at Gatwick Airport?
You can choose from a range of different parking options with APH – where you should park depends on your trip and priorities. Our own APH Park & Ride and APH Self Park options are the most economical. If you’d prefer to drive directly to the terminal, one of our trusted Meet & Greet partners can meet you in person. They will drive your car to a secure car park while you make your way to your flight.

Can I just turn up to the car park?
Yes, although it’s usually much better value to book Gatwick car parking in advance. Click through the Gatwick parking options above to see which meets your requirements.

How can I get from the South Terminal to the North Terminal?
Travelling between the airport terminals is effortless as you can hop onto the inter-terminal shuttle service that operates 24/7 and runs every few minutes. The shuttle service only takes two minutes to reach its destination.

Is there free disabled parking at Gatwick?
While there is no complimentary parking available at Gatwick for Blue Badge holders, there are several parking options that can accommodate your needs. Our APH car parks come complete with designated Blue Badge spaces. It's important to carefully review the details of each option provider before making a reservation. If you need help identifying the most accessible car parking option, speak to our customer service team.

What happens if I arrive earlier or later than planned?
If you arrive early, most of our car parks can easily accommodate you. We'd recommend that you contact your designated car park as soon as possible to ensure a smooth onward journey. If you're delayed, any additional parking charges will be at the discretion of the service provider and must be paid at the car park. It is advisable to carefully review the car park's information to learn more.

How much is parking per day?
If you book your parking in advance, the cost of parking at LGW Airport starts at just £7.49 per day. If you turn up on the day, you'll be charged £30 for the first day and £25 for each subsequent day of parking.

How do I extend my parking?
If you need to extend your booking, contact the car park where you're parked and request to extend your stay. Overstay charges normally apply – please check at the time of booking or at the time you request your extension.

Can I reserve a specific parking slot?
No, you can't. All our spaces are first-come, first-serve so you can't reserve a specific parking spot. You'll always get the car park and type of parking you've paid for though.

Do you offer EV charging at the car park?
Yes, we do! If you choose one of our APH car parking options at Gatwick, all you need to do is unload your bags and take the shuttle bus to the airport terminal as normal. If you're parked in an EV space, your car will be charged for you while you're away so it's ready to go upon your return.

Can I use the drop-off zones at Gatwick airport?
Yes, you can. The free drop-off points at Gatwick Airport are the Long Stay car parks. Gatwick Airport also operates paid drop offs (minimum charge is £6) outside the North and South Terminals. For free drop off, arrive at the airport and follow the signs to your terminal and the Long Stay car park. Take a ticket at the entry barrier and find a free parking bay. Flight passengers can then take the free shuttle bus to the airport terminal. The drop-off driver exits the car park using the same ticket. No charge is payable if you have parked for less than two hours. The Long Stay car parks can also be used for free pick-up, once again, if the vehicle is parked for less than two hours. Passengers simply take the shuttle bus from the terminal back to the car park to meet their driver.
