Directions

From the south:

  1. Exit the M1 at Junction 23a and take the second exit on the roundabout.

From the north:

  1. Exit the M1 at Junction 24, take the fourth exit on the first roundabout and the third exit on the second.

Then:

  1. Once in the airport complex, follow signs for the Short Stay 1 car park.
  2. Stay in the left or middle lane for entry to the car park. 

Arrival Procedure

Parking at the Short Stay Parking is easy:

  1. Drive up to the entrance barrier and wait a few moments.
  2. The automatic system will read your number plate and verify it against your booking details – the barrier should open automatically.
  3. Park in the first convenient space.
  4. Make the short walk to the terminal.

Please ensure you allow time to park your car and make your way into the airport terminal.

Return Procedure

On return to the airport:

  1. Walk back to the car park.
  2. Collect your car.
  3. Drive up to the exit barrier where your number plate and booking will be verified by the automatic system.
  4. The barrier will rise and you can exit the car park.

I did not use the transfer service hence the middle of the road mark. Everything else was good and the automatic barrier recognised my number plate quickly entering and leaving the car park. The proximity to the terminal was also good. I did not need to contact staff.

I wondered if the car park entry board could be amended plus all the other car park signs as they doesn’t stipulate Short Stay 1 and we needed to drive round to the other car parks just to check so maybe this would help other people as well. Also the directions you send out stipulate follow signs for SS1 which aren’t signed. Many thanks.
