According to a recent survey by Which?, the largest consumer body in the UK, booking an airport parking space in advance can make parking three times cheaper in comparison to when a traveller pays onsite on the day of travel.
Which? surveyed 13 different car parking prices at some of the UK’s biggest airports and found that some parking prices could cost more than a flight at the airport. The Which? research was undertaken in March 2012 and covered Belfast International, Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow International, Liverpool, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, London Luton, London Stansted, Manchester and Newcastle Airport.
The price for a last minute car park space at Heathrow would cost approximately £120, and £100 in both Luton and Manchester Airport. However, by booking online it would cost a holidaymaker just £66 for a pre-booked space, and just £39.99 at Luton and £35.99 at Manchester Airport. Which? also found similar result for the rest of their surveyed airports.
Which? also discovered that valet car parking (like the popular meet and greet airport parking service offered by APH) is also an incredibly popular option and also one of the least expensive.
