COLLECTING THE CAR AT THE END OF THE HOLIDAY WAS GOOD. THE MINIBUS WAS ALREADY WAITING AT THE TERMINAL. THE PAPERWORK WAS OK, AS WE WERE ON THEIR LIST. WE LEFT SOON AFTER LOADING OUR LUGGAGE. ONARRIVAL AT THE BASE WE QUICKLY RECEIVED THE CAR KEY AND FOUND THIS EASILY.
WHEN I LOOKED TO BOOK CRUISE PARKING AT SOUTHAMPTON, I RECEIVED THE PROCESSING DETAILS FROM APH (AIRPORT PARKING AND HOTELS). THIS WAS CONFUSING, AS I HAVE USED APH FOR GATWICK AIRPORT PARKING BEFORE. THEY WERE REFERRING TO THE PLACE OF BOOKING AS SOUTHAMPTON BUT NOT SPECIFICALLY THE PORT. I WAS THEREFORE NOT SURE IF THIS MIGHT HAVE MEANT SOUTHAMPTON AIRPORT.
WHEN WE ARRIVED IN MARCHWOOD WE FOLLOWED SIGNS FOR "CRUISE PARKING" BUT THE DOCUMENTS FOR THE BOOKING WERE ALL IN THE NAME OF APH, SO WE REALLY WEREN'T SURE WHETHER WE WERE AT THE RIGHT PLACE, PARTICULARLY AS I HAD USED ANOTHER CRUISE PARKING COMPANY NEARBY ON A PREVIOUS OCCASION.
THE ROADWAY TO THE SITE WAS VERY BAD, LIKE AN UNMADE ROAD. THERE WERE NO SIGNS SHOWING APH. ALTHOUGH WE ARRIVED EARLY ENOUGH FOR OUR CRUISE ON AZURA, WE HAD TO WAIT FOR SOME CONSIDERABLE TIME IN THE ROADWAY, BEHIND OTHER CUSTOMERS. DESPITE THERE BEING ONLY ABOUT A DOZEN SUCH VEHICLES, THE PROCESSING WAS VERY SLOW. AS TIME WENT ON WE WERE CONCERNED AGAIN ABOUT BEING AT THE RIGHT PLACE AND POSSIBLY WASTING TIME IN A WRONG QUEUE. I WALKED UP TO THE KIOSK, TO CHECK WHEN WE EVENTUALLY HAD MOVED UP THE QUEUE ENOUGH TO BE IN THE PARKING YARD. EVEN THE OFFICER HAD TO CHECK OUR DOCUMENTS VERY CAREFULLY, TO CONFIRM WE WERE. HE MENTIONED THE PARKING IS ORGANISED BY SEVERAL COMPANIES, SUCH AS APH. ANOTHER COUPLE IN THE QUEUE, HAVING WAITED PATIENTLY WITH US, WERE TOLD THEY WE IN THE WRONG PLACE.
WHEN WE EVENTUALLY DROVE UP TO THE KIOSK, OUR CHECK IN TIME WAS REASONABLY QUICK, SO WE WONDERED WHY IT HAD TAKEN SO LONG TO PROCESS THE RELATIVELY SMALL NUMBER OF VEHICLES IN FRONT OF US.
WE PARKED THE CAR AS ADVISED AND TOOK OUR LUGGAGE TO THE AWAITING COACH. OUR LUGGAGE WAS ACTUALLY PUT INTO A NEARBY TRAILER, ATTACHED TO A MINIBUS. WE GOT ON THE COACH AND SOON LEFT FOR THE PORT. WE ARRIVED THERE AT 2.20PM. WE HAD BEEN TOLD TO CHECK IN BY P&O FROM 2PM, INSTEAD OF THE ORIGINAL 1PM TIME BECAUSE THE SHIP HAD HAD A NOROVIRUS OUTBREAK ON THE PREVIOUS CRUISE AND THEY WANTED TO CLEAN THE SHIP. WE SAW A VERY LARGE QUEUE OUTSIDE THE TERMINAL. THE DRIVER WENT PASSED THIS AND WENT TO DO A U-TURN. HE DIDN'T PRESUMABLY CHECK HIS MIRRORS BECAUSE HE TURNED AS A TAXI WAS TRYING TO OVERTAKE HIM. THE TAXI HAD TO SWERVE VIOLENTLY AND THE COACH DRIVER BREAKED TO AVOID A CRASH. WE THEN PARKED BEHIND ABOUT 5 OTHER COACHES OUTSIDE THE TERMINAL. WE WAITED THERE, OCCASIONALLY MOVING UP AS THE COACHES AHEAD MOVED ON. WE WERE ONLY YARDS FROM THE PEOPLE STANDING IN THE TERMINAL QUEUE BUT WE WEREN'T TOLD TO GET OFF. OTHER PASSENGERS WENT TO ASK ABOUT GETTING OFF BUT APPARENTLY WERE TOLD WE HAD TO WAIT ON BOARD. EVENTUALLY WE WERE TOLD TO DISEMBARK BUT THIS WAS AT 3.15PM, A WAIT ON BOARD THE COACH OF 55 MINUTES. DURING THIS TIME NUMEROUS CARS, MINIBUSES AND TAXIS WERE LETTING OTHER CRUISE PASSENGERS JOIN THE QUEUE AHEAD OF US. THEREFORE WE WERE DISADVANTAGED AND DELAYED IN GETTING ON BOARD.
SOME PASSENGERS ON THE COACH HAD TO GET THEIR LUGGAGE FROM THE COACH HOLD BUT THE MINIBUS/TRAILER HOLDING OURS WAS NOWHERE TO BE SEEN. I ASKED WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO OUR LUGGAGE AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD HAVE PRESUMABLY ALREADY BEEN TAKEN ON BOARD THE SHIP. WE WERE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE WORD "PRESUMABLY". WE WANTED TO KNOW "DEFINITELY" BECAUSE WE DIDN'T WANT TO GO ON A CRUISE WITHOUT ANY LUGGAGE BUT THERE WAS NO WAY OF CONFIRMING THIS.
OBVIOUSLY THE TERMINAL WAS BUSY AND WE STOOD IN THE VERY LONG QUEUE FOR OVER AN HOUR. WHEN IN THE TERMINALWE WERE GIVEN A CARD AND TOLD TO SIT SOMEWHERE UNTIL CALLED. WE WERE WAITING FOR NEARLY 2 HOURS. WE HAD NOT EATEN OR DRUNK SINCE LEAVING OUR HOME IN MAIDSTONE AT 10.30AM. WE HAD EXPEXTED TO DO THIS ON BOARD THE SHIP. WE INSTEAD HAD TO BUY REFRESHMENTS IN THE TERMINAL HALL. EVENTUALLY WE WERE CALLED TO CHECK IN AND THEN GO ON BOARD. THIS WAS AT 6.15PM, 4 HOURS AFTER THE COACH HAD ARRIVED AT THE PORT.
WE BELIEVE WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO GET OFF THE COACH SOONER AND JOIN THE QUEUE, WHICH WE PARKED ALONGSIDE FOR MOST OF THE TIME. IF WE HAD DONE THIS, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN AHEAD OF ALL THE OTHER VEHICLES AND THEIR PASSENGERS ARRIVING LATER BUT JOINING THE QUEUE BEFORE US. WE WOULD THEREFORE HAVE BEEN ON BOARD QUICKER AND PROBABLY NOT HAVE HAD TO WAIT AS LONG BECAUSE WE WERE AT THE PORT ONLY 20 MINUTES AFTER THE TIME GIVEN BY P&O. IN FACT WE WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE 2PM, IF WE HAD NOT HAD TO WAIT SO LONG TO CHECK THE CAR IN.
IN VIEW OF THE DELAYS, WHICH WE MAINLY BLAME CRUISE PARKING FOR, WE INCURRED A MUCH LONGER WAIT TIME TO GET ON BOARD AND ALSO REFRESHMENTS COSTS. DUE TO THE LATE BOARDING WE WERE TIRED AND THEN RUSHED TO DO THE MUSTER, UNPACK AND THEN PREPARE FOR OUR EVENING MEAL. WE HAD NO TIME TO FAMILIARISE OURSELVES WITH THE SHIP, AS WE WOULD NORMALLY DO. THIS WAS NOT A GOOD START TO OUR HOLIDAY. WE ACCEPT P&O ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR SOME ELEMENT OF THE DELAY, DUE TO THE NOROVIRUS BUT WE HAD ARRIVED WELL ON TIME TO BOARD AS ADVISED. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE WE WERE DELAYED BY CRUISE PARKING IN BEING ABLE TO GET TO THE PORT EARLIER AND THEN TOJOIN TJE QUEUE AS SOON AS WE ARRIVED THERE.

The signage to car park was non existent APH was not shown only cruise parking which was confusing!

On our return our car was scratched down passenger side and handles on drivers side were marked, it appeared our car had been driven. Also drivers wing mirror was out of position. We spoke to a man who said they would check photos of our car and phone us Monday. That was last Saturday 13th June and we have received no call.

The car had been cleaned the day before we left and so we knew any marks that were on car.

Fortunately T'cut removed scratches
so all is well.

We would never use Southampton cruise parking again.

The two gentlemen that greeted us at the terminal on our arrival and on our return were courteous and helpful. They made the whole process very easy.
Its not really a bad point but I would like to have seem a more prominent marker for where we should go on our arrival back. I think this was only because we left from one terminal and arrived back into another.
