Terminal 4 was opened by the Prince and Princess of Wales on 1 April 1986; it is the Heathrow base for airlines of the SkyTeam airline alliance.

Flight check-in:

Heathrow provides the following guidelines for when you should check in for domestic, European and non-European international flights:

Long-haul and El Al:

Three hours before scheduled departure

European flights:

Two hours before scheduled departure

UK and Ireland flights:

90 minutes before scheduled departure

Online check-in:

Many airlines operate an online check-in service to let passengers select seats, print boarding passes and save time at the airport. Heathrow advises customers to check with their carrier to see if an online check-in service is offered.

Mobile check-in:

Play area for kids:

Looking for a way to keep the kids occupied? Head for a play area, where they can enjoy slides and a soft play area; there’s also separate baby and junior areas. Suitable for kids aged 0-9, and open from 6:00am to 9:00pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Find it in the departure lounge, after security, on way to Gates 1-6. .

Charging your mobile devices:

If your phone or tablet is running low, Heathrow Airport offers free Power Pole charging stations in all terminals. These can be found before and after security and are compatible with UK and European plugs as well as USB cables.

Baby changing facilities:

Baby changing facilities are available both before and after security; just follow the signs. Alternatively, download a map of Terminal 4 here.

Luggage trolleys:

Arriving passengers will find plenty of free luggage trolleys in the baggage reclaim area and these can be taken to the on-airport car park, bus station and rail station. They are also provided in the departures area, but cannot be taken through security.

Luggage storage:

Looking to ditch your heavy bags but check-in doesn’t open for hours? Head to one of T4’s luggage storage facilities! Bags can be stored for anything between a few hours and 90 days. All items are subject to security checks including x-rays and random hand searches.

Rates are £5.00 for 0-2 hours, £10 for 2-24 hours and then £5.00 for each additional 24-hour period or part thereof. At Terminal 4 they can be found in Arrivals and on the Mezzanine level. Hours are 5.30am to 11:00 pm.

Pharmacies:

Airports are exciting places, and nowhere in the UK has more to see than Heathrow. At Terminal 4 head to View Heathrow Observation Deck between Gates 15 and 16; offering a panoramic view of the runway, View Heathrow is equipped with binoculars and touch screens to track flights.

In the departure lounge make your way to AMT and Costa coffee bars for the best views.

Took along time for bus to arrive , upon return to the parking area we were kept waiting in the bus at the reception office for our keys , it was ridiculous ! after a very long flight and calling to inform of our return, purple parking was still not ready it does not take one hour to get a hand full of cars out and put a key in a bag. the driver was efficient and friendly
