Belfast Airport (BFS)
You could have been forgiven for getting confused when travelling to Belfast in Northern Ireland. There are two Belfast airports. Any confusion should be averted though, as on 22 May 2006, Belfast City was renamed in honour of George Best, the iconic Manchester United football player.
Although George Best Airport is nearer to the city, Belfast International Airport is still the principal gateway to Northern Ireland, serving over 5 million passengers a year. It has two runways which it shares with RAF Aldegrove.
Belfast International Airport is one of the largest regional air cargo centres in the UK. In addition, other air services are run from the site including executive charter, air ambulance and air taxi, as well as helicopter training and hire.
If you are coming from the north and east, Belfast International can be found off junction 5 of the A57. Take the A26 if you are coming from the south or west.
There is a reasonable choice of parking options, some within walking distance of the airport. However, for value and security, APH can offer Killead Air Lodge and Red Cent at Karl Business Park or Nutts Corner.
For those opting to start their trip in a more leisurely manner with APH's hotel and parking package, you can choose from the Park Plaza, a four star deluxe hotel or the Hilton Templepatrick.
The Park Plaza (previously called the Fitzwilliam) will suit the relaxed traveller who wants fine cuisine before catching their flight. Step from your bedroom and into either the Foyer Lounge Bar and Circles Restaurant for locally produced yet imaginative menus.
Northern Ireland has some spectacular scenery. Book your place at the Park Plaza with APH and get ready to walk in giants' footsteps at the Giants' Causeway.
No time for fun? This airport can still surprise with "luscious lunches" at Café Rankin or Wine, a Rankin bar serving quality wines and fine cheeses.
Reliable standbys, Boots and Dixons, keep company with Les Boutiques and two Taste of Ulster shops. You will find a wide range of bespoke Irish products for any last minute gifts or simply to spoil yourself.
However you choose to kick off your trip, let APH help you. For an immediate quote, check our online booking system now or to speak with an APH operator, please call us on 0844 871 7431.
