Ski Equipment Excess Baggage Charges



Airline

Skis

Air France

For ski equipment in excess of the baggage allowance, the fee is €50 (£44.92) per item each way

Alitalia

Ski equipment can travel as registered baggage. If in excess of 20kg, payment of supplementary charges for excess baggage are applied

American Airlines

Two pieces - Ski/board boot bag and one pair of skis/snowboard are charged at the applicable checked bag charge for the 1st or 2nd checked bag. When in excess, each item will be subject to the baggage charge for a single piece.

BMI

To carry skis/snowboards or ski boots/board shoes and poles there is a charge of £15 per set each way

British Airways

In addition to your free checked baggage allowance, you are allowed to take sporting equipment with you free of charge

One pair of skis, ski poles and boots or a snowboard and boots within baggage allowance

Cathay Pacific

Ski equipment is part of the standard luggage allowance.  If it exceeds the allowance, there is a per kilo charge at the excess luggage rate

Continental

One pair of water skis or one bag containing 2 pairs of skis, one pair of boots is free of charge and counted as one of your bags

Delta

No charge for ski equipment if it does not exceed the baggage allowance. This includes one ski bag and one boot bag

If the equipment is an additional piece, there is a charge of £138 each way

Easyjet

£18.50 charge each way when pre-paid.  When paying at the airport the charge is £26.00 plus any excess baggage charge @ £9 per kilo

Emirates

Skis will be accepted for carriage within the baggage allowance with 3kg excess given for free. If over 23kg, you will be charged at of the excess baggage rate

Flybe

Must be booked in advance and there is a charge of £22.50 per sector

Iberia

If the authorized baggage allowance is not exceeded there will be no charge. If not you will be required to pay for excess which will vary depending on your origin and destination

Japan Airlines

One pair of skis and ski poles or a snowboard, boots or water skis are free within the baggage allowance.  If the equipment weighs 5kg in excess you will only be charged for 3kg

KLM

If your baggage and skiing or snowboarding equipment together weigh in excess of 20 kg, a low, fixed excess baggage rate shall apply to your skiing or snowboarding equipment.  Rates can be found at the sport equipment table on the KLM website

Lufthansa Group

Ski equipment is free of charge for a piece weighing up to 15kg

Qantas Group

Ski equipment is free unless it exceeds the baggage weight allowance.  If so, there is a charge of £24/kg

Ryanair

Ski equipment can be carried in the hold at an additional online charge of £30 per item per one way flight, or £40 per item per one way flight when booked at the airport or through the call centre

SAS Group

Short haul: €20 (£18.10)
Long haul: €40 (£36.19)

Free of charge in Business, Economy Extra and Eurobonus Gold Members

Singapore

If the weight of the equipment exceeds the baggage allowance, there is a standard charge of 3kg. This will apply up to a maximum excess of 15kg, after which the normal excess baggage charges will apply

One ski bag and one boot bag is free in the place of a second piece of checked in baggage. If additional pieces are checked, excess fees apply

US Airways

One pair of skis and ski poles, a snowboard or a ski boots within baggage allowance is free.  If the equipment exceeds the baggage allowance there is a fee of $15 (£10.31) each way

Virgin Atlantic

In addition to the free baggage allowance, at no extra charge, you can take: one pair of skis, ski boots, poles and mask or one snowboard plus accessories

Skiing or snowboarding equipment must not exceed 32kg in weight
