New flight schedule from British Airways London City Airport
2010-07-01
It was expected that British Airways' new London City Airport flights to Ibiza and Palma de Majorca would be popular. But did BA realise they would be quite as popular as they have? Perhaps not. Because the have proved to be so popular with customers that the routes are to be extended this autumn, soon after being added to the airlines' flight schedule!
The flights to Ibiza (summer-only) flights were launched only in May and were scheduled to end in September, but are now to be extended for another five weeks.
The Friday and Sunday flights to both Palma de Mallorca and Ibiza, on new Embraer 190 aircraft, are now to continue flying right through until October 31st (that's Halloween!) enabling people to take well-deserved long weekends or even longer breaks. And for those of you with children, the extension means flights will continue to operate right up until the last days of most school half-term holidays.
Luke Hayhoe, BA CityFlyer commercial manager said: "These leisure routes have really taken off from London City, they proved so popular that we have already increased frequency to Mallorca to five flights a week and to Ibiza to four flights a week in July and August. Now we have the opportunity to extend the season and customers can enjoy some late sun with the excellent autumn climate that the Balearic Islands can offer."
British Airways currently flies to 12 destinations from London City airport including Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Madrid and Nice. The airline also offers holidays in Spain and flights to popular destinations such as Barcelona and Malaga.
