Good for them, good for you? Maybe not!

It is good news. That is, it is good news, if you are an airline executive. Because airlines saw a rather massive 43% leap in their ancillary revenues for 2009, compared on the previous year, claims a report from Amadeus and the IdeaWorks consultancy group.
The report indicates that Euro 11 Billion was earned by 96 airlines worldwide from a number of disparate sources, like baggage check-in, in–flight refreshments, and commission bookings for hotels and car rental. The figure for 2008 had been Euro 7.68 Billion.
EasyJet saw a rather mouth (or eye) watering rise in ancillary revenue, from Euro 212 million to Euro 608 million last year. Meanwhile Ryanair made ‘only’ an increase of Euro 38 Million an increase to Euro 663 million!
So what do you do? Firstly, watch out for inflated prices, something APH has warned about before. Also, check out the great value travel extra products that APH offers its clients. You could find APH saving you money on its modest airport parking fees!
