Fly HiAir from Robin Hood to Amsterdam

2011-05-19

A recently launched airline has revealed ambitious plans to launch new scheduled flights from Doncaster's Robin Hood Airport to Amsterdam.

HiAir intends to aim the service at business travellers and tourists, who are keen on the idea of taking a locally-based flight. Another advantage is that there will be one price and one class, only. The first flight is scheduled for 5th September and bookings for the flights are already been taken.

Ben King, who is a co-director of HiAir Ltd said: "We bring fresh ideas and energy to the industry and seek to awaken the glamour previously associated with aviation through our ambition to deliver outstanding levels of customer service. Such personal service can only be achieved by utilising rich local airports such as Robin Hood which provides a blissful foundation for us to trial our niche concept.
"Doncaster Sheffield Airport is an excellent base for HiAir and one where we believe we can flourish amongst the exciting ambience of the port, with its outstanding modern facilities that really make it a world class example of the perfect local airport in line with our mission to become a world class company."

Mike Morton, a director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport pointed out: “This is a great opportunity for the region to get behind a local company committed to offering travellers a high quality service to a key European airport. We know from past experience Amsterdam is a destination businesses in particular are keen to see served from this airport and we hope interest from passengers will see this service come to fruition later in the year.

"HiAir offer something different for passengers and we will work closely with them over the coming weeks to help promote the benefits of their service and the convenience of flying from Robin Hood Airport"

Dan Fell, the Head of Policy at Doncaster Chamber of Commerce said, "It's great to see a local company doing something entrepreneurial in the current economic climate. We welcome improved access to a key market such as Amsterdam for the businesses of the Sheffield City Region. This builds on recent good news about the go ahead for the Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Route Scheme and demonstrates the real potential for the airport to meet local business travel needs; we encourage our members and other local businesses to capitalise on the opportunities created through this new route."

The business class service with an economy price tag for customers will use a Jetstream 32 - 19 seat aircraft which, the company feels, will create a personal approach to flying.
One of the advantages of the service is that with the scheduled daily departure times it is ideal for business travellers as they can make use of HiAir's day return deal, have a business meeting in the Amsterdam and be back home in time for tea!

HiAir also aim to make the service a little more special, with a concierge programme and executive travel options which could include helicopter transfers for the more discerning (and wealthy!) travellers. Tickets for the flights from Doncaster to Amsterdam can be booked now at www.hiair.co.uk.
