ITS CHILD'S PLAY ON BRITISH AIRWAYS, BUT NOT SO EASY ON EASYJET! AIRPORT PARKING AND HOTELS OFFERS FAMILY FRIENDLY ADVICE

Airport Parking and Hotels (APH) is offering parents a helping hand when travelling with children by compiling a table comparing the child-friendly facilities available on the top airlines offering travellers the chance to make sure they know exactly what’s included so that flight cost comparisons are done on a like-for-like basis.

Travellers can log onto www.aph.com/news/child_friendly_flights.htm and compare the pre-flight and in-flight activities available on British Airways, Ryanair, Easyjet, BMI, Excel Airways, First Choice, Thomas Cook, Thomsonfly and Virgin Atlantic ranging from family check-in facilities to carrycot allowances and child friendly in-flight entertainment.

British Airways came out on top of the research. Families travelling with the airline can check-in the entire family, print off the boarding passes and pre-order a complimentary children's meal all from the comfort of their own home. Families also have priority boarding over other passengers and ‘Skyflyer’ activity books are available on all flights over 170 minutes to keep the children entertained. In contrast, Ryanair and Easyjet have now added a priority boarding fee of £2 per person which is only available to the first 60 passengers, making it harder for families to sit together on the flight and families late checking in will have to queue. Early check-in is available with BMI but only up to three hours before the flight. First Choice, Thomas Cook and Thomsonfly do not offer complimentary meals and all charge a fee for a child’s menu but offer a selection of blockbuster movies and activity packs. Virgin Atlantic kid’s pack offers a great selection of a colouring book, crayons and games including games such as backgammon, solitaire and hangman.

The comparison table is included on the 'Know Before You Go' pages of the APH website which are a great way for travellers to find out important travel information before they set off on holiday.

Nick Caunter, managing director at APH said:"It is important for today’s independent travellers, especially in family groups, to know what's included and what's not. We are pleased to be able to provide this information on www.aph.com and hope that it helps selection of the most appropriate airline for our customers needs."
