More baggage and more destinations for Jet2

2008-10-30

If you're taking a budget break from a UK airport with discount carrier Jet2, you'll be delighted to hear the airline is increasing its hold luggage allowance by 30% - from 17kg to 22kg, on all flighhts from the northern UK airport after April 1st, 2009.

The new deal applies to all flights booked from October 20th, and taken before the end of March next year. Jet2 runs services from Manchester, Newcastle, Blackpool, Edinburgh and Belfast International airports in addition to its Leeds Bradford airport hub.

In practical terms, this means many of you should be able to take plenty of luggage for a short break, with enough room left for those all important souvenirs. We recommend you pack carefully, use a small bag and weigh it before arriving at the airport.

The carrier, which has operated out of the UK for 30 years and flown eight million passengers, claims its 22kg allowance is the best in its business sector. At the time of writing, rival carriers such as Monarch, bmibaby, easyJet, Aer Lingus, Flybe and Thomsonfly, offered a 20kgh limit, while Ryanair allows passengers just 15kg.

“At Jet2.com we are committed to going that extra mile to give our customers an even better deal when they travel with us. People’s holidays are extremely important to them and we want to ensure that their experience is enjoyable from start to finish,” says Jet2.com managing director, Philip Meeson.

Jet2, recently voted the UK’s best short haul airline by Guardian and Observer readers, has also revealed 22 new routes for summer 2009, with what seems to be trend-bucking confidence.

The airline currently flies to more than 100 sun, city and ski destinations in more than 15 European countries and eight Mediterranean islands, as well as to Egypt and the USA.
