APH Resort Guides at a Glance:
Park City, Utah
Overview
Lively nightlife, quirky art galleries and good shopping make this a great base for exploring the five resorts located within 30-minutes’ drive.
Come here in January and you can see the likes of Jenifer Lopez strolling the streets at the Sundance Film Festival. Oh yes, and the skiing is fantastic.
Terrain
Take to the slopes in spring and soak up the sun while cruising miles of corduroy.
The runs here are nice and wide, allowing you to lay out big turns without worrying about who’s lurking over your shoulder.
Recommended run
For advanced stuff head to Jupiter Peak and drop into Jupiter Bowl; it might look scary, but start off like you mean business
and you’ll be fine. For quiet runs with room to cruise, take McKonkey’s lift and help yourself to the scenic blue.
Ski-in, ski-out?
The Silver King is a hotel/condo complex with easy access to the slopes.
However, there are some gorgeous condos located in and around town, which are ideal for getting to the other nearby resorts.
Cost of living
Eating out in Utah is excellent value. Expect to pay around $8 (£4.50) for a large lunch with a drink.
Contrary to popular opinion, you won’t have any trouble getting a beer here.
Nightlife
For apres action at the resort itself, head to the Brewhouse or Legends.
In town, the Wasatch Brew Pub serves some delicious home-brewed ales, or for live music try the Claimjumper..
Alternative activities
For an unforgettably scary experience take a bobsleigh ride at Park City Olympic course.
For something more sedate, come here in January and watch arthouse movies at the Sundance Film Festival.
Family friendly
Yes indeed. The ski school takes youngsters from age three, and there are a number of licensed local child-carers in town, who will come to you if necessary.
