APH Resort Guides at a Glance:
Panticosa, Spain

Overview
If you’re looking for something a little different, give this place a try. Tucked away in the Spanish Pyrenees, Panticosa is a tiny, traditional village where you won’t see many other Brits. What you will find are beautiful little cottages sprinkled over the hillside, all overlooked by a small ski area.

Terrain
The ski area is pretty small: there 38 runs covering a total of 34 kilometres. It is a good place for beginners, because you can progress from the green slopes at the start of the week, and get around most of the resort by the time you leave. Once you’ve had enough to the greens, there are 16 reds and 14 blues to play with - and four blacks if you’re feeling brave.

Recommended run
After taking the cable car up from the village, jump on the chair that leads to the top of the resort, and you’ll find a cheeky little off-piste black. There’s also a lovely little run that winds its way around the back of the valley here.

Ski-in, ski-out?
Book yourself into the Hotel Sabacos and you’ll only have a 50-metre walk to the cable car.

Cost of living
This is still a mountain village first, and a ski resort second, so it won’t cost you the earth to eat out. A meal with wine will cost you about £6.

Nightlife
This is not the place to come for crazy nights out. But if you’re after a week of mellow skiing, apres-ski walks in stunning countryside and traditional Spanish bars, you’ll love it.

Alternative activities
There’s not much infrastructure for keeping you occupied away from the slopes. But the scenery here is so gorgeous, you should definitely take some time to go walking.

Family friendly
You won’t find any organised creche facilities; this is probably a place to come as a couple.
