APH Resort Guides at a Glance:
Kopaonik
Overview
A relatively cheap destination that’s becoming popular with Brits once again.
There’s a reasonable choice of runs, but it’s the quirky culture that you’ll remember.
Terrain
It’s a good place to come with the family; there are nursery slopes near the village, a good array of blues
and reds and even some cheeky off-piste.
Recommended run
Intermediates out for a challenge should try Duboka 2 (meaning "deep gulley"), a fairly mellow red that turns to black
halfway down. Look out for the stash of off-piste next to the Karamen Greben lift - if there's snow, it remains untracked for hours.
Ski-in, ski-out?
Yep. Everything leads back to the main village, and if you pick up enough speed you might even make it right to the bar.
Cost of living
Cheap. You can get a 3-course meal here for less than a tenner; a beer costs about 80p.
Nightlife
There’s lots to choose from; it all revolves around the village square. Try Kortina Ski Club for sweaty, arms-in-the-air action, or the Royal Bar (you’re more likely to get a seat).
Alternative activities
Kopaonik is situated in a national park, so there are some nice walks to be had here. Apparently, they have wolves…
Family friendly
Good ski school facilities, although you might have a problem with the language occasionally.
