APH Resort Guides at a Glance:
Les Deux-Alpes

Overview
Deux-Alpes has a good reputation for lively nocturnal action, and high-altitude slopes. Its downside is that there doesn’t seem to be a town centre, and it is annoyingly spread out.

Terrain
There’s a good choice of runs to suit all abilities. The baby slopes by the village are nice and mellow, while intermediates should be aware that some of the runs are more severe than they appear on the maps.

Recommended run
Advanced skiers have lots of off-piste to choose from; head up to the top of the Jandri Express.

Ski-in, ski-out?
Yes, if you’re staying in one of the hotels at the bottom of the nursery slopes.

Cost of living
It won’t break the bank. Expect to pay about two quid for a small beer; £6 for a bottle of house wine.

Nightlife
Can get pretty raucous. Bar Brésilien has good tunes and bags of atmosphere, while Avalanche is the place to go for late-night dancing action.

Alternative activities
It’s not the best for off-slope activity. A helicopter flight around Alp d’Huez is recommended, and there are lots of pretty walks around the valley - ask in the tourist info office for maps.

Family friendly
The village nursery is recommended for young babies up to two, while there’s a kindergarten for kids up to six. There are four free T-bars for youngsters, down in the village, which gives you an opportunity to get them on skis without forking out too much.
