Leeds Bradford Airport
Leeds Bradford International Airport is situated between Leeds and Bradford, just off the A658 Bradford to Harrogate road, near Yeadon. Well signposted from the M1, M62 and A1, LBIA serves some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain. Leeds has so far escaped the homogenisation of so many of Britain's beautiful cities and is reaping just rewards. Just over two million passengers a year currently pass through Leeds Bradford International Airport. However, regional business growth and increasing tourism should see these figures rising to at least four million by 2015.
Saltaire, in nearby Bradford, has been designated a Unesco World Heritage Site. Bronte country, Holmfirth and the Settle-Carlisle Railway are just a few of the attractions leading to the increase in popularity of this region.
Why not arrive leisurely and stay at a hotel? You can not only get in some sight-seeing, but APH has a special package that combines a hotel room with your holiday parking. Prices start from as little as an extra £20 in addition to the normal parking charge. Choose from either the Ramada Leeds Parkway, situated next to Golden Acre Park and Nature Reserve or Days Hotel, a modern large hotel near Leeds city centre.
For those preferring a little archaeological mystery, the Courtyard by Marriott is located in the scenic countryside village of Tong. Although the hotel is ideally suited as a base for both business and leisure travellers, the village is the site of Roman remains, and also retains its "charming" rural landscape, much 'as it has done in generations past'.
Those heading for the airport, should pre-book car parking at Sentinnel Security to save on both time and money. The secure car park is located near to the airport.
Unfortunately, the actual airport appears to be a rather less thrilling experience. It is situated on the edge of the Pennines and there are no covered walkways to shield passengers from inclement weather. Still, passengers can at least treat their nails at the Manicure Lounge, or have a massage with Ki 4 Health Ltd (or both) while waiting for their flight.
The usual semi-tempting array of necessities and luxuries can be found at Leeds Bradford International Airport at the duty free shop, while Superdrug has the pharmaceutical concession.
The Lounge Bar, Yates Pub, sandwich and burger bars, and the White Rose Food Village should ensure there is something for everyone to eat and drink, but check closing times.
If the airport hustle and bustle is not to your liking, let APH reserve a place in the Penauille Servisair Lounge for you. Complimentary snacks and drinks are supplied with newspapers and magazines.
