Glasgow Airport

Some say that Dali put Glasgow on the map as a European City of Culture. The city fathers certainly showed foresight in buying Christ of St John of the Cross. However, Dali's stunning work of art was first shown at Kelvingrove in June 1952. Glasgow achieved its cultural accolade in 1990.

Today, Glasgow is rightly seen as one of the most stylish and cosmopolitan destinations in Europe. Famous for its exceptional Victorian architecture, two of Glasgow's many claims to fame are its art collections as well as a vibrant nightlife.

A must for architectural buffs are Charles Rennie Mackintosh's magnificent Art Nouveau buildings: The Lighthouse, Glasgow School of Art, and House for an Art Lover. To see more, book a hotel now through APH.

For those heading straight to the airport, there are two Glasgow airports: Glasgow International and Glasgow Prestwick. Glasgow International is located 8 miles (13 km) west of Glasgow City Centre. It is adjacent to the M8 and is easily accessed by road.

Glasgow International is Scotland's busiest airport with over 8 million passengers. It entered aviation history books in July 2004 when it handled more than one million passengers in a single month. It was the first airport in Scotland to do so. Glasgow International also tops Scotland's airport list for charter flights.

Jenners, the well-known Scottish department store, also has an outlet; while Tartan Plus should satisfy tourists grabbing a uniquely Scottish last-minute purchase.

For the stressed, there is the option of a manicure at Nailport, or a range of stress-busting acupressure massage treatments at Relaxation Station.
