Gatwick Airport

Gatwick Airport has grown from its wartime origins as a Royal Air Force base, into the UK ’s second largest airport.

For such a busy airport, it has just the one runway, making it currently the busiest single runway, and the seventh busiest international, airport in the world.

Gatwick is situated 24 miles south of London, on the Brighton road, M23, surrounded by beautiful Sussex countryside. It has two terminals, imaginatively called North and South. The South terminal has an integrated rail station, the first of its kind in the UK , and, in another first, Gatwick has recently built the world's biggest passenger bridge. Passengers can now walk to their aircraft instead of having to use the coach services.

If you are looking for Gatwick Parking, there are a number of parking options at Gatwick to choose from, and it makes sense to use a booking agent like APH to do the work for you.

APH ’s Gatwick car park is about twelve minutes from Gatwick. We can take the strain of parking your car.  If you really want to save time, why not try the Meet and Greet service? Enjoy the small luxury of having a chauffeur meet you at the terminal door, who will then park your car for you. Alternatively you can book one of the BAA car parks, NCP Flightpath North, Summer Parking or Parking Express.

Pre-Book Your Airport Parking

As you would expect from an airport with such a cosmopolitan reputation, there is a sizeable range of hotels and guesthouses to suit every taste and pocket: from the luxury Sofitel London Gatwick, formerly known as the Le Meridian, at the North Terminal and the Hilton at the South Terminal, to one of the many other excellent hotels like the Gatwick Aurora, the Copthorne or the Effingham.

Airport restaurants tend to cater for the fast food sector. With passenger traffic exceeding 30 million, perhaps that is not so surprising. The discerning eater can still eat well on-airport, at Chez Gérard in the North Terminal or the Caviar House Seafood Bar, found in both the North and South Terminals.

If you are really enterprising, and have spare time, why not check out the fine cuisine at one of the 20 four-star hotels located around Gatwick.

Budding poets might prefer a trip to Alexander House, a 17th century mansion set in 170 acres of grounds, previously home to poet Percy Bysshe Shelley.

Maybe you would prefer a spot of pre-travel retail therapy instead? Bags, shoes, suits, travelling gear, perfume, books - there are certainly enough shops to dent the plastic. You can even buy your goods and collect them when you get back.

When the pace gets too much and if you are spiritually inclined, you can escape to the inter-faith chapel located in The Village in the South terminal.  Alternatively you can escape by booking yourself into either the Aviance Executive Suite North Terminal or the Penauille Servisair Lounge South Terminal.
