A vintage aircraft welcomes you at the entrance of the Crowne Plaza Hotel, a magnificently restored Art Deco former airport terminal building. Situated just 10 minutes from Liverpool John Lennon Airport and a mile from Liverpool South Park Rail Station, the hotel is the perfect base for those flying out of or in to the international airport. As you would expect from a 4-star hotel, all 164 guest rooms are very well appointed and comfortable. The Starways Restaurant is bright and airy, retaining the Art Deco styles of the 1930’s and overlooks the vintage aircraft and former runway. I booked this hotel as it was ideal for an early morning flight and they advertise that car parking for travellers is part of the deal. I was not impressed to be told that I was going to be fined for parking outside the hotel when there were no signs or notices outside or at reception and the reception staff were busy.
I accept that it's a difficult time for hotels between Christmas and New Year but we ( and other guests who were not part of a large party group) had to wait an inordinately long time for our meals in the dining room.
The hotel/airport pick-up system did work really well.
Overall though this was not the convenient situation I thought I had booked and better customer service could have rescued the situation.
