Half Term Holiday Ideas
If you are looking for a half-term break, there are plenty of options for you and your family.
Had you thought about Turkey?
Turkey is an ideal option for late autumn holiday sun for families. This year, one in ten of the Blue Flag awards have gone to beaches and marinas in Turkey. Blue Flag is a prestigious, international award scheme which acts as a guarantee to tourists that a beach or marina they are visiting is one of the best in the world.
Turkey now has 383 Blue Flag beaches and 21 Blue Flag marinas after Blue Flag announced its eco-label awards for 2013, the country ranks 3rd highest in the Blue Flag awards out of a total of 48 countries.
Turkey’s Blue Flag-awarded beaches include a blend of public beaches and private beaches owned by resorts on its Mediterranean and Aegean coasts, plus around greater Istanbul.
Sites included are at Bodrum, Foca, Datca, Didim, Izmir, Kusadasi, Marmaris on the Aegean coast, and at Alanya, Kalkan, Kas, Kemer and Oludeniz on the Mediterranean.
So families wanting to soak up a bit of late autumn sun can enjoy clean, accessible beaches in all of Turkey’s major holiday destinations and with the expected average temperatures between 20ºC and 26ºC the October sunshine should be brilliant. The perfect getaway from our autumnal mists!

Or what about some Castles in Spain?
Parents wanting some family-friendly fun during the half-term can think of heading to the emerging and exciting Spanish Region of Murcia, where they will find a week’s full board holiday for a family of four available at very modest prices.
Murcia’s Costa Calida, (meaning warm coast in Spanish), has over 250 kilometres of beautiful coastline with 26 Blue Flag beaches, 25 of which are ‘Q’ Flag Tourist Quality marked – that’s more than any other region in Spain, making it the perfect destination for your family break.
Murcia’s Mar Menor, Europe’s largest salt-water lagoon, offers vast expanses of shallow water with no tide or waves, providing the ideal environment for children to safely splash around or enjoy watersports.
There’s also San Pedro’s impressive regional park, boasting many different wildlife species, and the magnificent Roman amphitheatre at Cartagena.
