Christmas On A Ranch
There are many Dude Ranches in America offering special Christmas season breaks. Those in Canada and northern parts of America offer a more traditional white Christmas, whilst those further south (think southwestern states like Texas) still offer a traditional Christmas but without any of the snow!
These have all the usual features of a dude ranch holiday (with variations for the winter weather, of course) but also include traditional Christmas dinners, champagne breakfasts on Boxing Day, presents form Santa, mulled wine, Christmas Carols, etc.
To learn more contact the Dude Ranchers Association by visiting their website at www.duderanch.org/.
Many of the cruise firms still have Christmas cruises available in various parts of the world, including The Caribbean, the South Pacific, Mediterranean Sea and Greek Islands. Seasonal entertainment is on offer as well as special Christmas dishes which are added to the restaurant menus on board ship.
Just park your car in your airport’s APH car park and fly out to meet your cruise ship at the embarkation port. Alternatively, APH offers Meet & Greet port parking at Southampton Port and also cruise port parking at Dover Port.
Just check with your usual cruise firm on line or with your high street travel agent.
Hire A Train For Christmas
The Luxury Train Club has a magical New Year planned on the Eastern & Oriental Express, with the surreal combination of a formal New Year’s Eve dinner on board this Orient Express of Asia, followed by a sarong-clad beach party in Thailand.
The Luxury Train Club also has something for the young and young-at-heart in Austria, a festive ride in royal style between the Christmas markets of Vienna and Salzburg. The Majestic Imperator is based on an imperial train, delivering a sumptuous experience that will become part of family folklore for the children and their elders. And finally, for those who want to escape Christmas altogether, why not opt for a more active break to the Mountain Kingdoms. These organised mountain treks in India, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Cambodia are guaranteed to be tinsel and turkey free!
